Cairn with Underground Dolmen Psinako-1. 3D Virtual Reconstruction

Cairn is one of the most interesting mealithic constructions in the Caucasus and Russia. But anybody can see almost nothing today. The cairn is fully demaged by graverobbers many times ago, and by farmers in our century. So I had to assemble it virtually. Here is the 3D landscape reconstruction of this unique megalith. My virtual work is based on the M.K.Teshev's theory on 12-beams system.

3D reconstruction of cairn

And the second photo is not virtual. The point of view is just on the cairn.

cairn now

The cairn is placed in Tuapse region, Psinako Valley, 1.5 km from village Anastasievka. Underground portal dolmen was assembled of sandstone slabs with a hole and a plug in the facade. The height of the complex is 4.8 m (now) and the diameter of the barrow is about 57m (reconstruction). The passage is faced by sandstone slabs. The length of that underground passage is about 12 m. Here one can see cross-sections of this barrow.

The layers from outer side: mound of river stones, clay, dry stonework, the dolmen. Dating: a coal under the entrance of the passage - 2320+-40 B.C (without calibration). I must notice that the outer part of the passage was made later (because of the difference in accuracy of the passage construction).

The researchs in this barrow was gaverned by the discoverer (1972) of the dolmen M.K.Teshev (seventies and eighties). All the numbers and the cross-sections are from the reconstructionV.I.Markovin's book " The Dolmen Monuments of Kuban and Black Sea Coast" (1997).

A few words on reconstruction. The entrance to the passage is seen in a pit. The concentric circles on the surface of cairn are formed by the mudslides due to a spottiness of construction. My reconstruction of the valley's landscape is not too accurate because of the present-day forests around. But some centures ago one could see mountain meadows and oak groves only. Look at this. According to local inhabitants' information the stone rays existed in the middle of our centure.

A part of cairn

The cairn is highly damaged now. It was uncovered by some graverobbers at first. And at the present times an bulldozer found it earlier then science...

M.K.Teshev put forward a new theory of the barrow as a solar observatory. As a result of his own searchs and conversations with local inhabitants he reconstructed a several stone beams and two stone rings on the cairn.

The number of beams was 18 at first. But later M.K.Teshev have reduced this count down to 12. Here you can see the reconstruction of Caucasian researcher M.Kudin. One of the beams is overlapping by the passage (a direction to left bottom of the image is equal to the South-East).

a part of dolmen's plugI have seen just nothing even with a archeomap. Nobody needs to see it now... So look at a preserved part of the stone plug.

And some addition to the finish.

The discoverer of this megalithic monument have died just this place a few years later.
